I see this cool demo from the Game Developers Conference which is a Second Life clone for the PS3, but with much higher res graphics. Its very beautiful, and will drive more and more people to “live” online. I wonder why people decide to live online in the virtual world – since you are interacting with people instead of computers then its not really a bad thing. Its really a form of telepresence and makes us even more and more cyborg-like. Why does the world-wide media not react with as much shock and horror (and number of pages of coverage) when there is a suicide attack in Baghdad as opposed to a suicide attack in London? Can someone explain why one merits more coverage than the other – its still innocent people torn apart by murderers whose message is unclear. I’m OK with law enforcement and the Patriot Act, as long as its used for its intended purpose of tracking down terrorists. And yes, I guess I need to say something about the Ann Coulter “faggot” comment. So what? As far as I’m concerned, she was being real. When did we start condemning people for being real?
