Amid continuing chatter concerning Democrat efforts to build a case for impeaching President Donald Trump, grandfather of modern Washington lobbying and former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone warns that impeachment will lead to massive violence in the nation’s streets.
Stone made the remarks in an impromptu interview with TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport.
“The people who are calling for impeachment are the people who didn’t vote for him,” Stone said. “They need to get over it, they lost.
“Try to impeach him, just try it,” he continued. “You will have a spasm of violence in this country, and insurrection, like you’ve never seen.”
Asked if he really believes a Trump impeachment could lead to bloodshed in American cities, Stone answered, “No question.”
The longtime lobbyist and political fixer added that the current heightened state of partisan unrest throughout the country could easily snowball into actual warring between opposing political factions.
“Both sides are heavily armed, my friend, yes, absolutely,” he said. “This is not 1974, the people will not stand for impeachment.”
Stone was careful to note that he is in no way advocating violence, just predicting that it would be the likely outcome if Democrat impeachment fantasies were fulfilled.
He added that lawmakers supporting impeachment should tread lightly unless they have am unassailable case for removing the president from office.
“A politician who votes for it [impeachment] would be endangering their own life,” Stone said.
