Twitter suspends Trump communications director’s account one day after appointment

Just a day after she was named the White House’s new communications director, Twitter users were surprised that the social messaging platform had suspended 28-year-old Hope Hicks’ account.

As of Wednesday morning, this is what Hicks’ account looked like:

The account suspension came without an explanation from Twitter. But on its website, the social messaging service offers the following explanations for why an account could be taken offline:

According to sources, Hicks’ account was likely suspended after a mass initiative by leftists to report the account for non-existent violations of Twitter’s rules.  After Twitter blocked her account, the left jeered.

The move left conservatives confused and angry.

ZeroHedge pointed out that the account suspension reveals how Twitter censorship efforts aimed at reducing hate speech can be easily manipulated by mob rule:

We suspect Twitter will be more than a little embarrassed by this – it appears Jack Dorsey’s sophisticated new anti-free-speech, censorship AI algos are really just mob-rule-driven – if enough people don’t like what you are saying (or may say), they will comply…

While Hicks’ real account was suspended, Twitter left in place a parody account of the new communications director complete with crude jokes attacking the young woman’s character.
