President Donald Trump on Thursday said he plans to meet with governors and law enforcement officials throughout the nation to discuss school safety following the shooting tragedy in Florida this week.
Speaking from the White House, the president delivered a message of American unity during a time of tragedy.
“We are all joined together as one American family, and your suffering is our burden also,” Trump said. “No child, no teacher should ever be in danger in an American school.”
The president added, “We are all joined together as one American family, and your suffering is our burden also. No child, no teacher should ever be in danger in an American school.”
The president went on to promise a plan to address school safety issues.
“Later this month, I will be meeting with the nation’s governors and attorney generals, where making our schools and our children safer will be our top priority,” he said.
“It is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference. We must actually make that difference,” he said.
