Good Luck Getting A Job In San Francisco Next Year

December 6, 2011   |

A couple months ago I commented on a poll showing that a majority of Americans supported increasing the federal minimum wage. While the federal rate hasn’t gone up any more (yet), some cities are bringing up their own minimums. One city in particular that’s kicking up wages is San Francisco. On January 1st, the minimum wage in SF will rise above $10 per hour.

The argument for the raise is that it will put more money in workers pockets and they will in turn pump that back in to the local economy.

This is nice…if you have a job. As for the unemployed, they’ll have to try to explain to employers why they should pay them to $10 an hour to do entry level work.
