Obama’s Hot Mic Gives Us Hot Tip

March 27, 2012   |

Not often do you get to have your worst fears confirmed. But that’s what happened yesterday, for all conservatives, when the supreme ruler whispered too close to an open microphone. Talking with Russian president Medvedev, in South Korea, ABC reported the following exchange:

OBAMA: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.

MEDVEDEV: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…

OBAMA: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.

MEDVEDEV: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir [Putin].

For those on the left, these comments aren’t anything special. The comments were down-played much like Rachel Maddow did, who wrote,

The president believes the election season restricts his foreign policy options? Well, sure, but that isn’t exactly breaking news. The administration, if given a second term, plans to have additional talks with Russia on missile defense, and would like Russia to be patient until after the election? Yep, we knew that, too

In other words, what’s the big deal? Every president has restrictions on what he can do because he needs to get re-elected. I get it, Maddow wants to state the obvious. Fine. But I’m not from the left. To me, it’s not what he said, I already know Obama is prepared to give away the domestic and foreign farms any chance he gets, I’m more interested in how he said it. If the comments were so hum-drum, for instance, why did Obama feel compelled to lean in and whisper them? Were they supposed to be kept a secret? Did he feel the American public shouldn’t hear the remarks? And what was said that didn’t get picked up by the microphone?

But more, Obama tipped his hand. He showed us that he’s drooling at the thought of being President without having to be re-elected. Take away a need for re-election (give him his coveted “flexibility”) and I can imagine how rogue he will actually go. No, actually, I can’t.

This is a President that violates the Constitution at will. This is a President that decides which laws he wishes to ignore. This is a President that spends outrageous amounts of the people’s money. This is a President that consciously hurts American industries. This is a President that promised hope and change yet consistently operates in the shadows. He is a man that promotes class warfare and blames everyone and everything, except himself, for his lack of success in the White House. And this is what he does when he’s trying to get re-elected.

No, I can’t fathom what he would do if set loose upon America for another four years without care of re-election. All I can do is shudder at the thought. And that is why this hot mic session is important. Because it gave us a hot tip on how he is viewing the next four years, And it helps reinforce to us why he can’t be allowed to win in November.

I consider myself a typical American. I value my family, friends and personal integrity. I enjoy some sports and a cold beer on a hot day. OK, several. I'll put some money on a pony now and then, too. I feel that America, as outlined by the Constitution, represents the greatest concept of government that humanity has conceived. However, this sound-bite based, PC, half-truth environment that our leaders, celebrities, unions and special interest groups have fostered is a fallacy and a farce. It is mocking those that gave their lives for this country, insulting the citizenry and ripping this country apart. I question government's intent on all levels and doubt its' competency with all enterprises. I believe small government is good government, I just can't decide whether it should be small or infinitesimal. Drop a line at imcitizen@imcitizen.net
