A police state is a state in which the government exerts extreme control over its citizens and maintains that control through surveillance, draconian laws and withholding rights such as the right to travel.
So…who says America isn’t a police state?
It seems lately that not a day goes by when I don’t read a story about some random American citizens who is “accidentally” killed by the local police for offenses such as public intoxication or from traffic stops gone awry. The police are supposed to be in our communities to protect and serve, not to interrogate and terrorize.
One of the causes of this conversion of America into a police state is of course the war on drugs and the war on terrorism. The government has whipped it citizens into a frenzy with their talk of the evils of drugs and put them into a state of fear due to terrorist attacks. The people are led to believe that they are being kept safe from those who commit evil acts like pot smokers. They are made to think that their government is protecting them from future terrorist attacks by monitoring their usage of electricity and frisking 3-year-olds in airports and bus terminals.
Our government has the majority of its citizens fooled.
I’m not fooled. Are you fooled?
